  • Routine: a regular course of procedure

  • Habit: a behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows itself in regularity or increased facility of performance

  • Schedule: procedural plan that indicates the time and sequence of each operation

  • Organization: to arrange by systematic planning and united effort

WHY ARE ROUTINES SO IMPORTANT?

  • Routines are the foundation for the creation of habits.

  • Having a consistent routine at similar times creates habits.

  • When good time manage habits are created it helps people organize their lives.

  • Routine elements in one’s life should include: times of meals, sleep, extracurricular activities, etc.

  • This is done with the use of organization.

  • One becomes organized by consistently being detail oriented.

  •  Examples: Color coding each task (homework, practice, tests, games, social events, etc.)
